| Steve Childress III Visit my website Born in Charleston, WV on June 17th of 1970, I have spent most of my life in WV. Before entering WVU School of Dentistry I did a lot of traveling while racing motorcycles. Once I graduated dental school in 1999, I moved to Charlotte, NC for 8 months or so before settling down with my wife Susan, in Beckley, WV, in January of 2000. From 12 until 24, I earned many state championships and four amateur national championships in motocross. Once I turned pro, I continued to be a contender from week to week, finishing the Supercross Championship Series 10th, and finishing 12th in the Motocross Championship Series, both my rookie year. Throughout the 5 years I raced professionally, I attended undergraduate college classes while racing most of the professional AMA Supercross Events and Outdoor Motocross Nationals. Once coming to an agreement to buy Dr. White’s dental practice, all of the pieces came together very quickly. Four years after becoming the owner of my own dental practice, I put my boots back on and started riding In 2003 I only raced one race, and in 2004 I raced several before having a season ending crash in early May. My first full season was in 2005. At Loretta Lynn's, I showed some promise. I had 12th, 10, and 9th place finishes before a concussion ended my week. My last race I was in 6th when I crashed. Before my wreck I had turned a couple laps at the same pace as the leaders. In 2006, I had a pretty good year. I won both motos in 3 classes at my area qualifier, I won one moto at my regional and finished in the top three in both classes. Then, finishing 7th in both of my classes at Loretta Lynn's topped the year off great. |
